Word of the Day

Mwafaka

It means "perfect," in Swahili. If you don't get why I love it, try and say it a couple times with a ghetto accent and you'll realize why its one of my favorite words to say.

Cheers,
Jayce

Swine and Dine 'Em!

We had to run to Dodoma for a swine flu shot. Here are just 2 pics...

Me and some of my Singida ladies...

They found headbands with tiny sparkley hats on them. These damn hats were the bane of my existance...

Cheers,
Jayce

Animal Planet

Here are some pics of random animals that have been in our lives the past couple months...

Singida is famous for their Donkeys. I've heard they're very tastey as well...

Hanging out with some of the puppies at Cessie's friend's house...

A nice  turtle we found on our very rainy rock excursion...

PEPFAR

So we headed to the capital city of Dodoma for a PEPFAR training workshop. Here are some pics of the fun festivities...

Music Festival 2010

The reason we went to Zanzibar was to catch the international music festival called Sauti za Busara, or Sounds of Wisdom.

The concert was held in an old castle, a ridiculously sick venue. I would strongly suggest that anyone who just happens to be in the neighborhood around Feb 2011, gimme a call, I'll most definitely be here again.

The castle from the outside.

The food vendors setting up shop. Tons of people selling local foods and fish. Sooo good.

The spread...

The festival during the day is chill acts you can just sit on the lawn and drink a beer to...

At night the acts get a little crazy...
Sorry about the lack of pictures. I took a ton of video, so once I figure out the best way to get that up here, I will.

Cheers,
Jayce

Raising the Zanzibar

So we had an amazing opportunity to check out the sick island of Zanzibar, just off the coast of TZ. We went to a great music festival (more pics to come), and had a great time chillin' on the beach all day. Here are some pics, most of which are scenic, wallpaper type stuff...

 Tough life...

 Pick-up game anyone?

Krissy, me and Steph on our way to prison island.

A savage pool overlooking the Indian ocean.

I can't decide what I am losing faster, my weight or my hair?

Zan is full of old Indian style architechture like this...

Who knew Freddy Mercury was born on Zanzibar? Lived there until he was 6.

Cheers,
Jayce

Mlendin' a Hand

While in Cess' village we got a chance to cook everyone's favorite TZ dish, Mlenda. Its basically a random smattering of green plants boiled together until you get the consistancy (and taste) of snot.

Here are some action packed pictures of the event...

Just doin' my part to help of course...

Con-Man mixin' it up...

Who's hungry?

To top of the wonderful feast of Mlenda. Cessie busted open a care package of marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate. Never before has a smore tasted so good!

Cheers,
Jayce
